Orkney Angora is a small, family run business situated in one of Orkney’s most northerly isles. This unusual cottage industry was established, from the ruins of a derelict croft, by William & Elizabeth Sichel, in the spring of 1982. Following the sad loss of Elizabeth, and over 35 years of running the business, William has decided to move on. The business is now owned by Tracy Ranger, who will continue to run the operation from her smallholding, also on Sanday, and it will remain a very personally run operation.

Their hand-dyed range of luxurious angora yarns are now supplied both retail and wholesale to a world-wide customer base online.

Their specialised thermal clothing products are promptly despatched by mail order throughout the U.K. and abroad. They have customers as far apart as Cornwall, Kent, Anglesey, Eire, Belfast, Norwich, Merseyside, the Scottish Borders, as well as in the Orkney and Shetland Islands.

The Craft Shop on Sanday has been closed since the change in ownership, however a small shop at Bridgend is due to be open in the Spring 2022. Hours will be limited, but please feel free to call beforehand, and if I can open I certainly will.
